Abstract
This text presents classic and contemporary essays that cover the enduring subjects of international law, such as treaties and international courts, in addition to newly developing areas including the environment, human rights and tribunals on war crimes. Ku and Diehl note that the end of the Cold War has placed international law at the centre of attempts to resolve contemporary problems in international relations. Acknowledging that, more than ever, national leaders have to balance considerations of domestic politics with a sensitivity to international legal concerns, their anthology includes theoretical and policy perspectives encompassing political as well as long-standing legal and philosophical frameworks.
