About Charles M Boisvert

Charles M. Boisvert, Ph.D. received his B.S. from Le Moyne College, his M.A. from Rhode Island College, and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. He completed an internship in Clinical Psychology at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA Medical Center in Bedford, Massachusetts, and a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts. Dr. Boisvert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling, Educational Leadership, and School Psychology at Rhode Island College and serves as the Coordinator of the Counseling Programs. These programs prepare students to become licensed mental health counselors. His clinical interest include: cognitive behavioral treatments for anxiety, depression, and anger; psycho-education and stress management. His research interests include: science-practice relations; clinical judgment; specialized treatments for schizophrenia; the biopsychology of stress; psychiatric care in primary care; and predictors of psychotherapy outcome. Dr. Boisvert serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for the journal Professional Psychology: Research and Practice and the journal Family Practice. He also served as an ad-hoc reviewer for Schizophrenia Bulletin. His publications are in the areas of specialized treatments for schizophrenia, science-practice relations in psychotherapy, and psychiatric care in primary care.
