About Charity Butcher

Charity Butcher, Ph.D. (Indiana University) is an Associate Professor of Political Science in the School of Government and International Affairs at Kennesaw State University and is affiliated with the School of Conflict Management, Peacebuilding, and Development, where she teaches in the International Conflict Management PhD program. Her research focuses on a variety of topics, including the role of ethnicity and religion in international conflict, interventions into civil wars, terrorism, international conflict, human rights, and civil society. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in a variety of journals, including International Studies PerspectivesTerrorism and Political ViolenceDemocratizationJournal of Human RightsEuropean Political Science,International Journal of Politics, Culture, and SocietyTurkish Studies, and Small Wars & Insurgencies.
 
She is currently on the Editorial Team for the Journal of Peacebuilding and Development and teaches a variety of courses, at both the undergraduate and graduate level, focused on issues such as international relations, American foreign policy, global security, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, and reconciliation. Dr. Butcher also publishes research on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, particularly in utilizing simulations, role-play, and other active learning activities within the classroom to enhance student learning.
