About Chad Carlson

Dr. Carlson teaches classes on the socio-cultural aspects of sport. These include emphases on history, philosophy, religion, law, governance, ethics, cultural studies, and policy. His research follows along those same lines with major threads addressing issues regarding the philosophy of play and the history of basketball. These original areas of interest have spawned a broader research spectrum that aims at a better understanding of sport. Dr. Carlson is a former college basketball coach, a former semi-professional basketball player, and is now a member of the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport and the North American Society for Sports History.
