About Catrena Lisse

It is my firm belief that involvement in scholarly activity is essential to success as an educator.  Individually, it provides the intellectual stimulation to keep enthusiasm for one’s craft at a maximum.  When it involves undergraduate students, it is the most important thing we can do to prepare our students for career success.  My professional interests are varied and include directing undergraduate research in the areas of materials science including sol-gel and hydrogel science and technology, as well as environmental analytical projects, chemical analysis of cigarette smoke, and development of new undergraduate laboratory experiences.  Scholarly activities in which I have been involved include instruction and supervision of an active undergraduate research program, publication in peer-reviewed journals, submission of grant applications, attendance and presentation of research results at local, regional, national and international conferences, serving as an external reviewer for scholarly journals, and membership in appropriate professional organizations.
