About Dr. Cathy Marcum

Dr. Catherine D. Marcum is a professor of justice studies at Appalachian State University and chair of the Department of Government and Justice Studies. Her areas of expertise include cybercrime offending and victimization, correctional issues and sexual victimization. Prior to joining Appalachian in 2012, Marcum was assistant professor and director of the justice studies program at Georgia Southern University. Marcum has published more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, as well as written or edited 10 books, in her fields of study. She won the Southern Criminal Justice Association Educator of the Year Award in 2015 and is the editor of the peer-reviewed journal Corrections: Policy, Practice and Research.
