About Cat Tebaldi

I am pursuing a Phd in Language, Literacy, and Culture in the college of Education.  My research focuses on language ideologies in the classroom, and their effects on the social and political inclusion of students of immigrant origin in France.

My recent fieldwork in Paris centered on the experiences of minoritized students in the ongoing protests against labor law reforms, as well as media representations of youth language and culture.   Broadly, I am interested in how language is used by dominant institutions to exclude minoritized youth, and how language is mobilized to transgress those boundaries.   and create counterpublics.
