Abstract

Studies show the widespread nature of violence against women in the United States and around the globe. Not only is violence at the hands of an intimate the experience of a substantial number of women, the negative health and mental health effects on a woman’s health are profound. This chapter reviews the state of knowledge on the prevalence of violence against women and its impacts.
