About Caroline Rehill

As a Brazilian immigrant, I have a personal relationship with my Master’s thesis. My thesis project originated from the desire to provide the Brazilian community with information and knowledge about themselves and about the Brazilian-centered nonprofit groups and organizations that are located in the Bay Area of San Francisco. The theme explores what I call the nonprofit continuum, which is the sum of nonprofit groups, formal and informal, providing services to Brazilian immigrants in the Bay Area of San Francisco. My study assesses the relationship among these groups, conflicts and alliances, their history and their relation with the Brazilian government in the region. In addition to that, my thesis provides a map of the nonprofit continuum. It is a unique work, never before explored in the academia. My reward is not only honors in the academic field. However, I acknowledge that a lot of work has yet to be done. This study is just the beginning.
