Abstract
Award-winning website on symmetry and pattern, developed by Carol Bier in collaboration with The Math Forum at Swarthmore College; subsequently hosted by The Math Forum at Drexel University and then the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics. NCTM retired the site in 2021, but it is preserved on the Wayback Machine at https://web.archive.org/web/20191211014540/http://mathforum.org/geometry/rugs/index.html
A rug gallery illustrates historical carpets, with explanations of symmetry in border patterns and field patterns, underlying grids, and features of carpet-making.
