About Carlos P. Hipolito-Delgado

Dr. Carlos P. Hipolito-Delgado received his Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Maryland College Park. He is Associate Professor in Counseling at the Unversity of Colorado Denver. Dr. Hipolito-Delgado he has published various book chapters, scholarly journal articles, and opinion editorials. He also has numerous conference presentations both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Hipolito-Delgado’s research interests include the ethnic identity development of Chicanas/os and Latinas/os, the effects of internalized racism on communities of color, training to improve the cultural competence of counselors, and the sociopolitical development of students of color. He has received grants from the American Educational Research Association and the Spencer Foundation to study the sociopolitical development and civic engagement of students.
Dr. Hipolito-Delgado has served as the Chair of the American Counseling Association Foundation. He is also the Past-President for the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development. Dr. Hipolito-Delgado also serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Counseling and Development and the Journal for Social Action in Counseling and Psychology. He was honored in March of 2011 with the Young Emerging Leader Award and in March 2013 with the Professional Development Award by the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development.
