Learning Objectives
  • Develop a greater understanding of their own cultural identities as well as a variety of multicultural issues that may be relevant in therapeutic interactions.
  • Students will be more familiar with issues of prejudice, discrimination, and oppression and how such issues impact the therapeutic experience for both, client and therapist as well as mental health related issues.
  • Students will become aware of themselves and others as cultural beings. What is your own cultural heritage and what role does it play in your life? How does it influence your worldview and values? What are the variations of cultural experience and their impact on self-perceptions and responses from others?
  • Students will become aware of their own values, biases and assumptions about human behavior.
