Abstract

The article explores the science fiction writing of African American author Octavia E. Butler. The author analyzes several of Butler's books, including "Parable of the Sower," "Kindred," and "Mind of My Mind," and examines how these stories repeatedly feature Butler's hometown of Pasadena, California.
