Cara L. Eckhardt, Ph.D., M.P.H. is a nutritional epidemiologist who teaches courses in Epidemiology and Global Health in the School of Community Health. She has served on the faculty since 2009. Current research by Dr. Eckhardt focuses on maternal nutrition during pregnancy and how it relates to infant growth patterns and subsequent childhood obesity risk. Additionally, as Principal Investigator for a National Institute of Child Health and Development (NICHD) grant, Eckhardt is partnering with colleagues at the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research in Portland to improve reliability and validity in the measurement of infant growth patterns that are predictive of future obesity risk.
