About Candy Shannon Lewis

Candy Shannon (Lewis) had firmly established herself in the Washington Metropolitan Area as a versatile, talented, media professional, when she accepted the opportunity to bring her knowledge and experience to students as an adjunct lecturer in the School of Communications in 1998.
From her media beginnings in television news and radio in her hometown, Detroit, she was recruited in 1980 as the first full time female personality at Washington DC’s WKYS-FM.  She was co-host for ten years on WUSA-Channel 9’s popular “Music Video Connection.” After working as part of the team that took WKYS-93.9FM to number one in the Washington market, Candy joined Howard University’s WHUR-96.3FM . From ‘HUR, she moved on to public radio: the now defunct WDCU-90.1FM, “Jazz 90” at the University of the District of Columbia.
After Jazz 90 in 1997, Candy expanded her media experience: she narrated books for the Library of Congress, continued hosting a cable public affairs program in Montgomery County, Md, worked as a newscaster at Voice of America, worked in satellite radio as an on-air personality for Potion 203, a channel on WorldSpace (which which folded in 2008.)
