Abstract
Xavier University of Louisiana, with its unique identity as a Catholic institution that is also historically Black, has as its mission a goal of promoting a more just and humane society. The Xavier ACS Student Chapter is guided by this mission and has built much of its success on a strong program of community service. Outreach events in local schools at all K–12 levels are central to the overall program, but a wide variety of other service activities are included. The program has been sustainable through a development of dedicated student leaders and successful fund-raising, including ACS student chapter grants.
