About Brian Yusko

Brian oversees the academic affairs of the college, including course scheduling and delivery, curriculum approval processes, and assessment and accreditation systems in the College of Education and Human Service.  He works directly with the Education Student Services Center and the Office of Field Services to deliver support services to students across the college.  Since 2000, he has been a member of the Teacher Education Council, which provides guidance and recommendations on teacher preparation programs across the college.

He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in curriculum and instruction, with an emphasis on middle grades teaching in urban settings.  These include EDB 242, Introduction to Education--the first course in the professional sequence for the CREATE program, and EDB 612, Curriculum Theory and Instruction.  His K-12 teaching experience includes self-contained teaching in middle grades as well as a variety of subjects in high school, all in urban settings.

His research focuses on teacher learning, specifically on professional development opportunities that help teachers learn to design and deliver student-centered instruction, with a focus on self-reflection through video.  He has actively participated in the implementation of the edTPA as a teacher performance assessment throughout the state of Ohio.
