Presidentializing Incivility: Trump and the Expansion of Presidential Opportunity
Harvard Law & Policy Review Blog (2017)
  • Dr Brian Christopher Jones, Liverpool Hope University, UK
Abstract
The piece argues that Donald Trump's election expanded access to the presidency perhaps more than either of Barack Obama's elections did. A striking, and unsettling, precedent has now been set, not simply in terms of candidate qualifications but also dignity and civility—behaviors that democracies will struggle to survive without.
