Britain's Other — Perhaps More Important — Anniversary
International Association of Constitutional Law (IACL) Blog (2015)
  • Dr Brian Christopher Jones, Liverpool Hope University, UK
Abstract
The piece argues that the anniversary of the 1265 Parliament assembled by Simon de Montfort, which was the first to include representatives from the shires, cities, and boroughs, as well as feudal barons, is perhaps more important, for democracy's sake, than the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta.
