This anthology, comprised of fourteen essays and a preface by Explosions in the Sky’s drummer Christopher Hrasky, focuses on the artistic, political, economic, ideological, and technological direction of music in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The Politics of Post-9/11 Music expands the discussion of music and 9/11 beyond canonical acts associated with the event (like U2, Bruce Springsteen, Toby Keith, and The Dixie Chicks). The articles theoretically ground subjects such as Carrie Underwood, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, and Underoath with topics including online file sharing, iPods, and the resurgence of vinyl records.
