About Brian A. Pappas

Joining Boise State University in 2017, Dr. Brian A. Pappas is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Public Policy and Administration. Prior to this he was a faculty member of the Michigan State University College of Law, where he was the Associate Director of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program, Director of the Conflict Resolution Clinic, and served as the Law College Title IX Coordinator. Dr. Pappas’ scholarship lies at the intersection between formal and informal dispute processes. His research examines the impact of the legalization of mediation, and the use of Ombuds and Title IV Coordinators in resolving university sexual misconduct.

He is a qualified Civil and Domestic Relations mediator trained in both facilitative and transformative mediation techniques and an approved Supreme Court Administrative Office mediator trainer. In addition to mediating hundreds of cases and facilitating public policy collaborations, he has trained over one thousand mediators. Dr. Pappas holds a B.A. in Political Science and M.P.P. in Public Policy from the University of Michigan, a J.D. from Wayne State University, an L.L.M. in Dispute Resolution from the University of Missouri, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Kansas.
