About Brendan Roediger, J.D.

Professor Brendan Roediger joined SLU LAW in 2009 and serves as a supervisor in the Civil Litigation Clinic, focusing on court-reform, racial justice, and representation of low-income individuals in the St. Louis region. He previously served as a lecturer in law and as managing attorney for the Civil Justice Clinic at Washington University in St. Louis.

After law school, Professor Roediger joined Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance in Illinois, litigating in the areas of housing preservation, predatory lending, domestic relations and welfare rights.

With his law students, Professor Roediger is active in litigation and advocacy directed at eliminating racial profiling, revenue-based policing, and unconstitutional court practices in Ferguson and throughout the St. Louis region. His work on these issues has been featured in national media sources such as the New York Times, ABC, MSNBC, and National Public Radio. He is currently a member of the Ferguson Commission Working Group on Municipal Courts and has provided policy guidance to state and federal legislators concerning the rights of protesters, law enforcement misconduct, and unconstitutional practices in local courts.

In 2014, Professor Roediger was awarded the Missouri Lawyers Media “Legal Champion Award” as well as the Equal Housing Opportunity Council “Open Door Award” for his work on issues of community justice.
