Control of Over-Voltages due to Capacitors Banks at Customer Systems2nd International Symposium on Electrical, Electronic and computer engineering and Exhibition, NEU-CEE2004, NICOSIA, TRNC, (2004)
AbstractThis paper describes concerns for capacitor switching transients at customer buses (hydrocarbon) witch cause power quality problem (risk to unscrew the tubes under the effect of the antagonistic couple due to the torsion energy caused by the rotary table motors). The magnification of transients is caused by various factors : plant load , switched capacitor size , customer load characteristics ,power factor correction and the utility distribution, etc. The results of simulation illustrate the impact of these factors , the important effect of energy levers associated with transients and the complex interaction between the capacitor banks and the source and load resulting in several transient over voltage phenomena . Recommendations for best solution to the magnification problems are also presented .
