AbstractExtract: This article examines the latest initiatives of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) to facilitate the use of ADR in the resolution of international commercial disputes. The initiatives are aimed at enhancing uniformity and predictability of approach to ADR clauses and settlements reached in ADR proceedings. By way of introduction, the article reviews the status of mediation agreements and mediated settlements, absent a system that supports the use of ADR.
