Abstract
Two years ago the Mozart bicentennial generated an enormous amount of literature on this most perennially popular of composers, most of which concerned detailed factual studies of his life, works, and environment. Virtually every bit of data that has survived was used to probe the minutest corners of Mozart's fascinating life and prodigious output, resulting in a thorough, even exhaustive overview of his place in music history.
