About Benaiah Yongo-Bure

Dr. Yongo-Bure’s research interest has been on economic development and transformation of African
economies. Now he is completing a book manuscript for publication this year or early next year on Regional
Development Poles and the Transformation of African Economies. This is a new strategy for economic
development in Africa. After this project, he will be focusing on Regional Integration and Economic
Transformation in Eastern Africa. He has collected most of the data on this project. What remain are writing of
the manuscript and updating of the data. A project he has put on hold is Economic Development and Long-
term Stability in South Sudan because of the on-going war in South Sudan. After these projects, Dr. Yongo-
Bure will probably focus on case studies of Sudan and Uganda.

Dr. Yongo-Bure’s teaching philosophy is that students should learn the basic concepts of a course, and master
the key theoretical perspectives and their applications in the real world. The comprehension of the concepts
and theories can best be illustrated by the giving of practical examples and applications. Historical
perspectives are usually given to illustrate present events or phenomena. These expectations are reflected in
his class discussion, student essays, and other types of exams such as multiple choice questions.
