Insider/outsider: Challenge and Opportunity in Teaching "The Profession That Never Was"
With Children and Youth: Emerging Theories and Practices in Child and Youth Care Work (2014)
  • Ben Anderson-Nathe, Portland State University
Abstract
In keeping with this book's aim to shine a light on current debates and contradictions in child and youth care, this chapter presents some of my challenges navigating the insider/outsider role as an early-career academic in "the profession that never was" and offers some hope for the possibilities this role can open.
