New School Mirrors the CommunityThe Times-Picayune (2010)
AbstractMuch has been written celebrating the first five years of school reforms since Katrina. Scores on state-standardized tests have continued to rise, parents have more choices than ever before, and a $1.8 billion settlement with FEMA will dramatically improve our school facilities. These are cause for celebration, to be sure. But conspicuously absent from this discussion is the question of segregation.
