About Barry D. Fike

As a young man born and raised in the South, my interests concern theology, southern gothic literature and speech communication with an emphasis on public speaking. I was raised in a conservative church of Christ household but learned to think for myself and do research according to the original languages, context, and original sociological situation of each text. Besides working for Pepperdine, I also work for the Woodland Hills church of Christ as a minister/educational director teaching and writing on a variety of theological subjects. My interest in southern gothic literature centers around the grotesque nature of redemption assigned to this particular genre of literature and the needs that the authors felt was needed in the Deep South to understand God and his plan of redemption deeper.
