About Barbara Harrison

Barbara Harrison is an Associate Professor at Andrews University. She graduated from Andrews University in 1991, and later received her MSN from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 2000.  There she completed her Nurse Practitioner training in the Acute Care/Critical Care tract. She is board certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and has over 20 years of clinical experience in Cardiology. She has taught in community settings and the hospitals; taught RN’s, and precepted NP and PA students. She was privileged to participate in the expansion of an Interventional Cardiology program on Maui, increasing patient access to cardiac intervention there on the island. Recently, her passion drew her to entrepreneurship and business ownership with marked success in decreasing 30-day readmissions in the sub-acute space to 40% below national averages.  Over the years, she has credited her passion for learning and teaching to the patience and commitment of highly skilled and respected nurse and physician mentors.
