Abstract

Clarifies the concept of restorative justice, exploring paths for further exploration (harms, causes, and obligations; offenders as victims; and shame and vindication). Discusses possible fault lines and dangers (co-optation and victim exclusion). Suggests ways to stay true to restorative justice through attention to principles and evaluation, reviewing the role of the expert and the language of respect. (SM)
