About Asma Vranaki

Asma A.I. Vranaki is an Associate Fellow at the Oxford University (‘Oxford’) and a Research Associate at Queen Mary, University of London (‘QMUL’). She investigates the links between law, society, and computer-mediated communication technologies (e.g. social media, cloud computing). She has held a number of roles in academia and practice where she has developed an expertise in technology, media, and telecommunications law.

More recently, she was post-doctoral researcher on the EC-funded “Accountability for Cloud” project ('A4 Cloud') at QMUL. A4 Cloud was a major European project which investigated how accountable cloud ecosystems could be developed in the data protection context.

Asma has taught law at various universities including the London School of Economics (‘LSE’), QMUL and Oxford. She is a non-practising commercial barrister and consultant to Preiskel & Co LLP, a leading technology City law firm.

Asma holds an LLB from LSE, an LLM in Computer & Communications Law from QMUL and a DPhil in Law from Oxford.
