The Emlen Scales: a Packet of Scales for Measuring the Quality of Child Care From a Parent's Point of View
Quality in Early Childhood Care and Education Settings: A Compendium of Measures (2007)

Abstract
Presented and reviewed in a compendium of 35 sets of measures of quality of child care, published by Child Trends. The so-called “Emlen scales” are the only parent measures of childcare quality in the national compendium— assessments based on detailed perceptions of the care of their own child. The other 34 sets of measures are based on professional standards, observations, and ratings that have questionable relevance to the vast diversity of childcare arrangements.
