Examines how Christopher Marlowe's drama 'Doctor Faustus' is concerned with the intellectual process. Reflection of the scholastic and philosophical controversies preoccupying the literate public throughout contemporary Western Europe; Faustus' abandonment of the classical methods of ascertaining truth and knowledge; Faustus' abrogation of his intellectual powers.
