About Anthony Nicotera

Dr. Nicotera has his law and social work degrees, is an educator, clinician, development professional, licensed social worker and counselor, multifaith spiritual practitioner, and leader. He has over 25 years of spiritual and clinical counseling, coaching, and teaching experience, as well as nonprofit leadership and management experience. He serves as Assistant Professor in the Bachelor of Social Work Program in Seton Hall University's Department of Social Work. He also serves as part-time director with the Fellowship of Reconciliation, the nation's oldest interfaith peace and justice organization, cofounded by Nobel Laureate and social work founder Jane Addams. Nobel Peace Laureate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was also a member as were many leading human and civil rights advocates and leaders. In partnership with Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay) and a former student, he coproduced the mixed-media films Planting Seeds of Mindfulness for Children, based on the book written by Thay and his Plum Village community, a favorite at the Illuminate Film Festival, and The 5 Powers Revolution, which won best film at The People's Film Festival in Harlem, NY. Thay was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. Nicotera also helped found Newark New Jersey's Cristo Rey High School and DePaul University's Peace, Justice, and Conflict Resolution studies program. He also lived and worked in Calcutta, India with Saint Mother Teresa in Calcutta, and with families communities in Nicaragua, Central America committed to rebuilding their country after war.
