About Anthony Donato, MD

After a Health Professions scholarship and service to the US Air Force, Dr. Donato has spent his time in medical education.  He has completed a faculty development fellowship in General Internal Medicine at University of North Carolina in 2005, and completed his Masters of Health Professions Education at UIC-Chicago in 2012.  He is a Professor of Medicine at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and an adjunct professor at Drexel School of Medicine. His body of work includes novel approaches to direct observation of trainees, development of structured portfolios, and simulation training for rapid response situations.  He has 114 peer-reviewed publications and more than 1200 citations a of his work to date.  He works clinically as an academic hospitalist and is an active participant in Tower Health's Street Medicine program, an outreach program for the homeless in Reading.  He is married to Karin, a research nurse and has 4 children.
