About Ann Marie Smeraldi

Ann Marie Smeraldi has focused her career in librarianship on information literacy instruction and assessment with special interest in the needs of first year college students and undergraduates as they make the transition to higher education. She joined the staff of the Michael Schwartz Library as the First Year Experience and General Education Librarian in spring 2008. In fall 2014 she was promoted to Head, Library Teaching and Learning Services. Ann Marie is also the subject specialist for the Women's Studies and Middle Eastern Studies programs.
As the Head of Library Teaching and Learning Services, Ann Marie oversees instruction and assessment for the first-year experience course and freshmen composition courses. She works closely with the Academic Programs and First Year Writing faculty to design information literacy sessions that support the learning outcomes of these foundational course.She also manages reference services and serves on the University's Common Reading Committee.
As the subject specialist for Middle Eastern and Women's Studies, Ann Marie serves the research and instruction needs of faculty, undergraduates, and graduates of these programs.
Ann Marie earned her Master of Information and Library Science from Kent State University, Ohio in 2006. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies at Cleveland State and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1999.
