About Annick Fritz-Smead

Fritz-Smead specializes in 20th century French literature and culture, with research interests in poetry, women writers and cinema. She has published a book on the poetry of Francis Ponge. With her colleague, Professor Denis, she has developed the Phonagogue, a multimedia computer program to teach French pronunciation at the advanced level.
EDUCATION: B.A., University of Besancon, France, 1971; M.A., University of Besancon, France, 1972; Ph.D. University of Minnesota, 1991.
Fritz-Smead has been teaching at Macalester since 1978.
