About Anne M. Giangiulio

At The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), Anne M. Giangiulio is an Associate Professor teaching classes that range from an introduction to an advanced study of graphic design, and also web design. Her teaching focus is on typography and the history of graphic design.
Professor Giangiulio was born and raised in Wayne, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. She received a BA in English from Villanova University. After serving in the Peace Corps in Cape Verde, West Africa, teaching English as a Foreign Language, she returned to Philadelphia and attended Temple University’s Tyler School of Art, where she received her MFA in Graphic and Interactive Design. In the Summer of 2004 Professor Giangiulio taught a Summer design workshop for Temple University’s Tyler School of Art, Tokyo, Japan campus.
Since moving to El Paso in August, 2004, Professor Giangiulio's focus has been on design for the arts and environmental causes and on educational museum exhibit design. She has been the recipient of many Gold and Silver ADDY awards and a Special Judge's Award from the Advertising Federation of El Paso and received honorable mention in the 9th, 10th and 11th International Biennial of the Poster held in Mexico City. In 2009 she was one of just one hundred graphic designers worldwide to be invited to participate in the in the 2010 traveling poster exhibit 'Voices in Freedom', celebrating the Bicentennial of Mexican Independence and the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution. In 2011, her work was included in Rockport Publishers' 'LogoLounge Master Library Volume 3: 3000 Shape & Symbol Logos' by Catherine Fishel and Bill Gardner, and in 2012, in 'Logolounge Master Library: 3000 Type & Calligraphy Logos.' Her posters are in several collections around the world. In 2014, she was a finalist for the The Texas Institute of Letters’ Fred Whitehead Award for Design of a Trade Book for her design of 'Remember Dippy,' by Shirley Reva Vernick published by Cinco Puntos Press.
