Abstract
The early care and education (ECE) workforce is the focus of new state and national attention.  The recently released Institute of Medicine report on the ECE workforce puts forth a series of recommendations for transforming the professional development landscape for ECE (IOM & NRC, 2015).  Improving ECE quality is essential to promoting healthy development, especially for young children exposed to trauma.  Yet quality improvement and professional development efforts frequently fail to achieve their desired results. This study examined the implementation of an innovative model for quality improvement that was designed to promote the adoption of trauma-informed practices, policies and environments in urban ECE settings. This study investigated how early educators learned and then implemented new practices as a result of this initiative. The focus of this presentation (poster) is the Breakthrough Series Collaborative model used in this initiative.
