Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to learn more about the evolving concerns of one of the educational pioneers, Frank A. Waugh, who founded the Department of Landscape Gardening at the Massachusetts Agricultural College, now the University of Massachusetts Amherst. By comparing and contrasting selected writings by Waugh on the subject of water this paper will examine evolving landscape studies which include a new research methodological approach.
