Abstract
This paper will present an overview of the real-time captioning system, including the aims, methodology, expected impacts, and preliminary results of programs that are currently underway in schools across Australia and the United Kingdom. This will be discussed with reference to the current and prospective user groups of this technology, including students impacted by childhood epilepsy, a condition that is often co-morbid with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); and students with reduced proficiency in English, such as students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
