About Anita Cheng

Dr. Anita Cheng is a neonatologist at the Children's Hospital (LHSC) using qualitative research methods in medical education research. She is a researcher at the Center for Education Research & Innovation. Her research interests include navigating difficult conversations, professional identity formation, coaching, global health, and medical ethics. She works toward developing teaching curriculum to foster reflective practice.

Dr. Cheng specializes in using rich picture methodology and constructivist grounded theory approaches.


Dr. Cheng completed her Paediatrics residency and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship training at Western University. She recently completed her Masters in Health Professions Education at Maastricht University and Western University. 
 
Dr. Cheng joined the Department of Paediatrics at Western University in 2016. She is the education program director of the Neonatal-Perinatal Subspecialty Training Program and the CBME Team Lead. Her scholarly work in postgraduate medical education focuses on qualitative research in reflection theories in medicine. Her areas of research interests include assessment and transitions to competency-based medical education.
