Abstract

This webinar covers the library's role in providing equal access to electronic databases, streaming media, and other online materials. This webinar will cover accessibility-related legislation such as the Rehabilitation Act Section 504/508 and ADA law, their impact on library acquisitions, and current legal challenges. The webinar will introduce participants to policies, standards, and functional web requirements to frame a discussion on the barriers faced by people with disabilities, as well as discuss format specific needs for streaming media, websites, online journals, databases, e-books and e-readers. Finally, the presenter will demonstrate freely available tools that librarians can use to test and evaluate accessibility of online resources.
