About Angela Carrano

Angela Carrano, DNP, MSN, RN, is an Associate Clinical Professor in the College of Nursing at Sacred Heart University. Prior to her position at Sacred Heart she was on faculty at Quinnipiac University for nine years. Prior to this position, she managed and taught in an LPN Program, and managed various Assisted Living Programs.
In addition to her experience as an educator, she has over twenty years’ experience in Emergency Nursing and expertise in Population Health, Community Public Health over the past 10 years. Dr. Carrano graduated from Saint Vincent’s College with AS Nursing, BSN from Sacred Heart University, MSN in Education from the University of Hartford and Doctorate in Nursing with a focus in Population Health from Quinnipiac University. She holds Certifications in ACLS, PALS, Framework for Healthcare Emergency Management from Homeland Security, Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS 100) for Healthcare/Hospitals, and many other certifications in emergency disaster preparedness including certification from Children's Disaster Services. Research in her doctoral program focused on emergency disaster preparedness in the United States and abroad. Her current scholarly activity is focuses on Community Public Health and population health. 
She holds past position as Treasurer and Treasurer-elect position for the AACN – SCC and worked as Co-Chair of the Population Health workgroup that developed the Population Health educational program housed on CLN website. Currently Dr. Carrano is the immediate Past President of Connecticut Public Health Nurses Association, a board member of the Connecticut Public Health Association, a member of the Executive Board of Directors of East Shore District Health Department for the past seven years and is a member of Region 2 Medical Response Corp and remains a member of the Connecticut Nursing Collaborative-Action Coalition.
