About Angela L. Bos

Dr. Angela L. Bos started at Boise State University in 2022 and is currently Professor and Dean of the School of Public Service. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Minnesota-Morris and her Master’s and Ph.D. in political science at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Dr. Bos spent fifteen years on the faculty at the College of Wooster as a Professor of Political Science, Associate Dean of Experiential Learning, and Chair of the Department of Political Science. She served as an elected member of the International Society for Political Psychology for Political Psychology’s (ISPP) Governing Council, Program Chair for ISPP’s Annual Meeting in Lison, Portugal in July 2019, and works as a public scholar within the Scholars Strategy Network. Dr. Bos has a strong record of publishing research on political leadership and creating public-facing scholarship to improve women’s representation in public institutions. Her research focuses on how stereotypes shape voter perceptions of candidates and gendered aspects of political socialization, particularly how gender stereotypes represent a barrier to women seeking political office. Dr. Bos’ recent research examines early gender political socialization and focuses particularly on when and why young girls become less interested in politics than boys.
