About Andria E. Rusk

Andria Rusk joined Dominican in the summer of 2016 as the Program Director for Public Health, and an Assistant Professor of Public Health. She was previously at George Washington University, where she served as faculty in the Milken School of Public Health. Dr. Rusk received an M.S. in Global Health from Duke University in 2011 and a PhD. in Public Health from University of Texas School of Public Health in 2015. She also earned a B.A. in English from Westmont College in 2002.

Dr. Rusk is committed to teaching and mentoring students, and the integration of experiential learning activities into the curriculum. She is a member of the Delta Omega Honor Society for Public Health, and an R.J. Lorimor Scholar. Her major area of research is in applying novel methodologies to understanding behavioral determinants to appropriate malaria case management. She was the principal investigator on three malaria projects funded through the Duke Global Health Institute examining antimalarial dispensation behaviors among antimalarial medicine retailers in Kenya. Dr. Rusk has a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and expansion of global learning opportunities for students. In pursuit of this interest, she has lived abroad for several years in England, Switzerland, Kenya, and France, and has led student immersion experiences to Brazil, Nicaragua, and Mexico. Dr. Rusk also enjoys live music, new foods, and hiking in new worlds.

At Dominican, Dr. Rusk teaches Health Behavior, Foundations of Public Health, and the Senior Capstone Experience in Public Health. She has also taught Public Health Biology, Social and Behavioral Aspects of Community Health, Health Promotion Theory and Research Methods, Field Epidemiology, Global Health Challenges, Public Health Senior Seminar, Health Education and Promotion, Social Epidemiology, and Systematic Review Methodologies in Public Health.
