About Andrew Delmonte

Andrew Delmonte is a Certified Business Advisor and the Social Enterprise Coordinator at the Small Business Development Center at SUNY Buffalo State. At the SBDC, Andrew provides specialized counseling services for social entrepreneurs in the areas of social business planning, financing strategies, Benefit Corporations and cooperatives, and social/environmental impact measurement and reporting. Previously, Andrew served as Program Director for Buffalo First, Inc., a nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster a strong, self-determined local economy in Western New York through consumer education, advocacy, and programs that further the impact of local and sustainable business.

Buffalo First’s advocacy efforts led to passage of Benefit Corporation legislation in New York State in 2012, creating a hybrid business form required by law to produce general benefit for society as well as for shareholders, and report such benefit using established third-party standards for social and environmental impact. Buffalo First hosted the national conference of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) at SUNY Buffalo State in June 2013. Andrew helped to implement a toward-zero-waste plan for the conference, as well as a need-based scholarship fund that allowed 32 Buffalo-area entrepreneurs from underrepresented communities to attend.

Prior to Andrew’s time at Buffalo First, he served as Manager of Operations and later as President and COO of Connare Tech, Inc., a Buffalo-based website and application development firm. Andrew serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of Buffalo First, Inc. and on the Board of Directors of the Nickel City Housing Cooperative. He also serves on the Steering Committee of the New York State Sustainable Business Council and on the Economic Development Committee of the Elmwood Village Association. He completed a BS in Film summa cum laude (minor in Psychology) at Boston University in 2009. A lifelong Buffalo resident, Andrew volunteers his time for the Delaware Soccer Club and Buffalo-area Engineering Awareness for Minorities (BEAM), while pursuing creative expression as a musician, writer, and member of the Buffalo Jugglers.
