Associate Professor
Dr. Slade is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Dayton. He began his term as department chair in July 2014. His research focuses on the philosophy of art and literature, with special attention to Postmodernism and the aesthetic of the sublime. He has published scholarly articles on the theory of tragedy and the aesthetics of representations of traumatic histories. He defended his doctoral dissertation, The Force of the Sublime: Lyotard, Beckett, Duras in the fall of 2003.
