Abstract
When Dr. A. Craig Phillips passed away in April, his family asked that in lieu of flowers, well-wishers send donations to the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, which opened in 1986 during Phillips' 20-year tenure as state superintendent of public instruction. The center will need all the donations his mourners can muster after the state cut half of its funding in the veto-overridden budget.
